OUR MISSION:
Founded in 1961, Audubon of the Western Everglades is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting South West Florida’s Natural Resources and Wildlife through advocacy, education, and community science.

Conservation & Advocacy
AWE is committed to conserving what natural resources remain in SW Florida. Our staff are working with legislators, conservation organizations, and advocacy groups to preserve rural lands, wetlands, and public lands.

Citizen Science & Outreach
We are dedicated to educing the public about imperiled bird life in SW Florida. AWE coordinates Owl Watch, a community science based program monitoring the Burrowing Owls on Marco Island. AWE also supports a winter Shorebird Stewardship Program, monitoring wintering Black Skimmers and terns.

AWE's NEW Executive DirectorAudubon of the Western Everglades has hired a NEW Executive Director. We would like to introduce you to Ted Rodman. Ted brings with him an impressive record of business growth, strategic marketing, brand management and development in the corporate and nonprofit organizational environments. We are happy to have Ted on board and are looking forward to advancing our current initiatives under his guidance. Loo for Ted at one of our next AWE events!
